The Nickel Plate Road was the nickname of the New York, Chicago, and St. Louis Railroad, which merged with Norfolk Southern in 1964. This caboose was built 2 years prior to the merger and continued to serve on the Norfolk & Western until the 1980s, when with the end of caboose service it was donated to the museum. |
