Description:  First train spotted upon arrival was NS SD70M-2 #2694 at 9:15am traveling north on the UP mainline through Dolton Junction, IL. Trailing behind was UP #7748. This was the start of the "loco parade" in 90 minutes!

Description:  The NS loco heading up the hot metal bottle train crawls slowly while going with a load of hot steel but on the empty return, the train tends to move much faster. And yes, I know there is a MAJOR weight difference that would account for the difference is speeds between loaded and empty trains.

Description:  The lead unit in the IHB pair was one of the newer gensets that arrived on the IHB property in 2011. When the light is right, the simple way to spot one of these newer units is by the color of the stripe. Traditional IHB diesels have a black stripe while the newer gensets have a dark green stripe. Only problem is sometimes the dark green can look black under certain lighting conditions.

Description:  Nearly 90 minutes after arriving, the ninth train passes through Dolton Junction, IL, while I'm there. Westbound BNSF 6627 & BNSF 4765 were heading up a unit vehicular flat train. Note the massive signal bridge behind the lead unit. Didn't realize that my camera setting had slipped so this last train pics came out less than perfect.
