Shown here at Broad Street Station in Philadelphia is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4800, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built by General Electric as number "4899" during August of 1934, rated at 4,620 horsepower, renumbered "4800" in November of 1934, and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. It's "Old Rivets" in its original paint scheme! |

Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #3844, #5223, #5214, and three more locomotives whose numbers are not recorded. All were constructed in Juniata. Engine #3844 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in March of 1923 and retired in December of 1949. Engines #5223 and #5214 are both K-2SA (4-6-2) "Pacifics": #5223 was built in October of 1912 and retired in February of 1931, while #5214 was built in February of 1912 and retired in July of 1936. |
