Crane is a diesel electric crane made by American & Ohio Locomotive Crane Co. Modle 7040 DE, website www.aolcrane.com/crane dimensions.html gives dimensions of this particular model. The gondola bears Norflok & Western markings, built 1-1949, capacity 1, 840 cubic feet. I will contact the N& W Historical Society to see what information they have for this gondola. On Feb.25, 2010, I sent and e-mail to the Norfolk & Western RR Historical Society regarding N&W gondola#590692. On Wednesday March 10, 2010, I received a response from Mr. Gary Rolih of the N&W Historical Society with information on this gondola: N&W Class G-26, Cross Tie Loading, Built Date:12-1948, by the Virgianian Railway in their Princeton,WV Shops, taken over by the N&W in1959.
VGN #30399,N&W#130399 before given MoW # 590692, Car had heavy repairs 1960-1962, no further information,Converted to MoW 1-21-1969 in Williamson,WV Shops. |
