Album Info:How many cars can a little IHB SW1500 switcher pull? That's the question I wanted to answer. After photographing the Indiana Harbor Belt SW1500 switchers move cars around for several years up at their Michigan Avenue yard, I decided one day to find out how many loaded gondolas and coil cars one lone swticher (#1502) was pulling through the yard from the ArcelorMittal plant just beyond. Here is the photographic results - 45 loaded gondolas and coil cars behind IHB 1502!!!! Since many of the coil cars have more than 2 huge coils, think of how many trucks it would take to move this cargo!!!
