Raritan River power |
Description: |
In 1980, Conrail absorbed one of Jerseys more obscure operations, the Raritan River RR, which had a base of operations in South Amboy. I never saw them while they were independent, but did finally catch their SW, still in its original colors, but with a CR number, while watching commuter trains one afternoon. |

Anyone can play |
Description: |
In 1984, some of the smaller and older units had not been repainted, especially if they were not going to be around long. Here we see a GP 9 in LV paint, its heritage showing through the paint over, and a pair of switchers, one in the Raritan Valley scheme, one Reading. It was quite the rainbow. |
