Basking in the late afternoon sun is Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 Hudson #2845. A year later the H1c, H1d & H1e classes would be given the title "Royal Hudsons" after transporting the royal visitors around Canada. The entire class earned royal emblems that woould be affixed to the side number shield. The loco, buiilt by the Montreal Locomotive Works in November of 1937, would go on to servce nearly 25 years before being scrapped in February of 1962. Specs - H1c class, 75" drivers, 275 psi boiler pressure, 22x30" cylinders, engine wt of 354,000 lb and tractive effort of 45,254 lb. This is a James Bowie photo. |
