Sweetland. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by David R. Sweetland that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in May of 1963. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2222 and #2214. Both are EF-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #2222 was built in April of 1963, while #2214 was built in March of the same year. They are about to pass under the 8th Street Bridge in Juniata on their way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. Also of note are the concrete coaling tipple on the horizon at the far left, as well as the trio of wooden N-6 cabin cars near the center of the photo. |
