Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis 40-foot, 50-ton box car NC&StL 22251 was in the Louisville & Nashville’s SEMMES TRACK at Pascagoula, Mississippi on 22 May 1958. The car had a CAPY of 100,000 pounds, a LD LMT of 122,500 pounds and a LT WT of 46,500 pounds for a gross rail load of 169,000 pounds and was built in February 1952. It was from the NC&StL 22000-22549 series, built in Pullman-Standard Lot 8015 during January and February 1952. The yellow stripes on these cars were first used on the skirting panels on 4-8-4 locomotive 570-579 built in 1942 and were later applied to the railroad’s diesel switch engines and GP7’s. |
