CR 9946 on West End Drill  Contributor's Pick!
Note the hogger (Steve Bonschur) and the brakie (Blackie O'Donnel). The West End Yard office is behind the "DeWitt Geep," an ALCO RS3 re-engined with an E8 567. Penn Central started making them and Conrail continued. Half of them wouldn't MU with other engines, the air piping didn't match up. Crews referred to them as 9900's. The program was started at DeWitt, but #9946 was rebuilt at Junianta November 1978. It had been CR #5374, nee Central of New Jersey #1544, which was delivered June 1950.
