The 3677 is a one of a kind unit. Due to falling revenues, the E-L decided to sell advertising on it's locomotives. The 3677 was soon fitted out with a billboard on it's roof. The Winston cigarette ad was the first attempt at this new and at the time, revolutionary idea. Alas, the whole idea was scrapped after the first run. The unit was now too tall to fit thru the Otisville Tunnel. Soon after, the E-L was forced into bankruptcy and into Conrail. |
