| Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad NW2 9240 at Burlington, Iowa on September 26, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in August 1946 (c/n 3636) on EMD Order E699 for 28 Phase II NW2's (#'s 9220-9247), it became BN 537 and was retired in May 1983. The identifier for the Phase II NW2's is the factory installed conical exhaust stacks. The Phase I NW2's were delivered with short stacks, which rose only a couple of inches above the top of the hood, and the CB&Q added straight exhaust stacks to their Phase I's. |
