One of the first Baldwin Mikados built for the B&O is this 1911, Q1 class loco. It had 64" drivers, generated a respectable boiler pressure of 205 psi for its 24"x32" cylinders, had an engine weight of 276,050 lb and produced a tractive effort of 50,184 lb. Later it was superheated by the B"&O shops and reclassified as Q-1aa. The class was retired and scrapped by 1955. The date is an approximation and no photographer was identified. |
