SLSF 4-8-4 #4502 - St Louis-San Francisco (Frisco)  Contributor's Pick!       
One of three specially painted 1943 Baldwin built Northerns used to head up the Frisco's premier train, The Meteor, daily between Oklahoma City and St Louis. The three locos were even given a special paint scheme - a distinctive zephyr blue, white and gray paint scheme with "Meteor" spelled out across the tender in bold red lettering. Later these three also served the Texas Special. Specifics - - oil fired, 74" drivers, 255 psi boiler pressure, 28x31" cylinders, engine weight of 462,500 lbs, tractive effort of 71,188 lb.
