4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 15 August 1964. Shown here are PRR engines #2217, #2211, #2219, #2206, and #2245. All are EF-22's built by EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. They are about to pass under the 4th Street Bridge with an 80-car TrucTrain bound for Enola and points East. The caboose is #477866. Also visible are two westbound freight trains awaiting orders to proceed, as well as two passenger cars awaiting reconditioning in the PRR's Passenger Car Shops behind them. Visible in the center distance, beyond the 7th Street Bridge, are some of the PRR's 12th Street Shop buildings. |
