#345 that now belongs to the Sequatchie Valley Railroad is now assigned to sister railroad the Walking Horse & Eastern in Shelbyville, TN. This loco has an interesting past. 345 was built in the 1960s for the Pennsylvania-Reading Shore Line as one of ten units in two groups. This unit was built with dual control stands. She went on to work for PennCentral, Conrail, P&LE and the Gulf and Ohio. Along the way, 345 was rebuilt to GP38-3 standards and had dynamic brakes added. Sequatchie Valley bought it from G&O. She sits here on a gloomy December day, idle on an industry siding awaiting the next time she will be cranked up for duty. |
