A southbound Louisville & Nashville train was rolling off of the railroad's Bay Saint Louis bridge and into the community of the same name behind GP38-2 4064, U23B 2771 and GP30 1068. This concrete structure was opened to traffic on 2 August 1967, and replaced an old wooden trestle. That trestle had been severely damaged by HURRICANE BETSY in 1965 and was subsequently repaired, but it needed to be replaced. (approximate date) |
