PRR 6760, M-1B, #1 of 2, 1956
TRB. Here is the first of two successive 35mm color slides of photos by John M. Prophet III that were taken at the Rockville Bridge near Rockville, Pennsylvania. Shown here are two Pennsylvania Railroad Class "M" (4-8-2) "Mountain" locomotives. At the left is #6760, an M-1B built in Juniata as an M-1A during 1930, rebuilt as an M-1B in May of 1948, and retired in September of 1959. At the right is #6948, an M-1 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in December of 1926 and retired in September of 1959. They have just passed ROCKVILLE Tower (on the right), and are about to cross the Bridge with an iron-ore train bound for the steel mills of Western Pennsylvania.
