PRR 6753, M-1B, 1951
Coal Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Don Ball, Jr., that was taken near Union Furnace, Pennsylvania, in June of 1951. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6753, an M-1B built in Juniata as an M-1A during May of 1930, rebuilt as an M-1B in November of 1948, and retired in February of 1958 after 28 years of service. It's passing under Signal Bridge #2174 with a mixed-cargo freight train on its way to Altoona and points West. Can you hear the syncopating echoes?
