| Two roads crossed here at Brinkley. One, whose caboose is displayed on the station grounds, was the Cotton Belt, and SP subsidiary. Interestingly, this car is on the Rock Island right of way, the other participant at this point. Cotton Belt had rights on the Rock from Memhis to this point, where it gained its own line to reach Pine Bluff and Texas. The Rock continued west to Little Rock and eventually Amarillo and Tucumcari. A Rock car here would be a nice nod to the heritage. |
