| Amtrak 36-seat dining car 8500 was on the westbound SUNSET leaving New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal. The car had been built by Pullman-Standers in 1949 as Southern Pacific 10204 for operation on the OVERLAND. It was purchased by Amtrak for “limited service” in 1974 and was retired in November 1977. |
