Frankstown. Here is an original 35mm color slide by Dave Augsburger that was taken in Frankstown, Pennsylvania, on 17 October 1965. Shown here is the motive power for the very first "Horseshoe Curve Excursion" sponsored by the Lancaster Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. They are parked adjacent to the PRR's Samuel Rea Shop while the railfans tour the facilities. In the lead is PRR engine #5898, an EP-22 built by GM-EMD in March of 1951 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. |
