Portraits 6. Here is a steam locomotive portrait via F.R. Kern that was taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, c. 1929. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #955, an E-3SD (4-4-2) "American" built in Juniata as an E-3D during May of 1908, rebuilt as an E-3SD in October of 1912, and retired in September of 1935 after 27 years of faithful service. Note the open-vestibule passenger cars. (#8 of 43)
