| Louisville & Nashville E8A’s 795 and 785 were parked next to Illinois Central E9A 2021 and E9B 2100 at the New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal engine zone. All of the locomotives had come in that morning, on the L&N’s PAN-AMERICAN and the IC’s PANAMA LIMITED, and they would be going back out later that afternoon. With the advent of Amtrak on 1 May, these trains left for the very last time exactly three weeks after this photo was taken. |
