LV 4-6-2 #2093 - Lehigh Valley
The loco was built by Alco Brooks in February of 1924 as a standard cab 4-6-2 Pacific type steam locomotive seen here. Luckily, it was one of three 4-6-2 chosen to be streamlined in 1940 with the" Black Diamond Express" styling. This photo was taken a year before the streamlined transformation. Unfortunately, the streamlined casing with it chrome was sacrificed to the WW II metal drive and left much like it looks in this photo again. Specs - class K-6b, serial #65260 77" drivers, 215 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine weight of 291,000 lb, tractive effort of 41,534 lb. No photographer listed.
