NOPSI Carrollton Station
New Orleans Public Service ST. CHARLES line streetcars 806 and 965, and TULANE line trolley buses 1171, 1202 and 1189 were parked at Carrollton Station in May 1954. Car 806 had been built by Brill in 1922 and was scrapped in February 1955, less than a year after this photo was taken; while car 965 was built by Perley Thomas in 1924 and has never been retired. The buses had been built by the St. Louis Car Co. in early 1952 for the new TULANE line and was among the last NOPSI trolley buses in service. The 1171 was retired in December 1964, when diesel buses took over the last two trolley bus lines (TULANE and CITY PARK); but the other two were not retired until March 1967 and were among 33 SLC trolley buses sold for operation in Mexico City. (approximate date of photo)
