Series delivery of the new electro loco Sr3 of VR began in 2016. The first ten locomotives were officially taken into service on May 25, 2017 and used in regular service from June 2017. The machines are built in the so-called last-mile version. Two additional diesel generators enable operation on non-electrified track sections. The diesel engines together develop a power of 360 kW. They are mainly required as a backup power source and for shunting service. With the fuel supply of the diesel engines, up to 100 kilometers / 62 miles at 20 kph / 12 mph can be covered, so that it is possible to continue driving in the event of a catenary voltage failure. |
