| Here is page six of a 64-page booklet published by Harry P. Albrecht entitled "World Famous Horseshoe Curve, Altoona, Pennsylvania Railroad." It was first issued in September of 1973. Photo Caption: "This is sometime in the 1870ies when there were only two tracks on the Curve. Looking westbound, we can see the original Curve tower which controlled the switching operations at Kittanning Point. The engine, No. 751, was an early Consolidation Type Class 'H' locomotive." Pennsylvania Railroad engine #751 is an H-1 (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built in Juniata during November of 1879 and sold to Torbert & Peckham in May of 1902. |
