| Once again, Amtrak train 3, the westbound "Southwest Chief", is running late … on this morning, 3 hours and 33 minutes late out of the next-to-last stop before arriving in Los Angeles. The usual pair of Amtrak P42DCs, in this case 192 and 75, this time running back-to-back (they are usually both facing forward), have just six cars in tow (two sleepers, a diner, a lounge and two coaches). Today’s train 3 will arrive at Los Angeles Union Station just 3 hours and 4 minutes late, having made up 30 minuues in just 26 miles, thanks to a generously padded schedule.
