Looking like a combination of an ocean ship and a wing-stripped airplane, the TurboTrain was an interested and unusual experiment. Built by United Aircraft of Canada, this was a high speed gas-turbine sleek even had the first ever tilting mechanism in the US for cornering curves. Although distinctive in design, there were lingering problems with the overall service and Amtrak finally pulled them from revenue service in 1976.
