| Fair quality photo of Baltimore & Ohio 2-10-2 #6222. This Santa Fe type steam locomotive was built by Baldwin in May of 1926 originally as B&O class S-1a 2-10-2 #6222. However in 1951, the loco was selected for a specialized rebuild using a solid frame, lightweight pistons, rods and crossheads. It was reclassified as class S-1b, only one of two in the class. It was renumbered B&O #538 in 1956 and eventually scrapped in 1959. An unknown photographer took this photo while it was parked near the Cumberland, MD, station. |
