| Built by Budd Company in 1948 for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy California Zephyr, the car was an instant hit with passengers. Although much larger and longer dome cars were eventually built, this was one of the originals. When Amtrak took it over in 1970, it was renumbered AMTK 9810. The car was donated by a private source to the Lake Superior RR Museum and is shared with the North Shore Scenic RR today. |
