PRR 7924, ES-12, #2 of 2, 1965 |
Description: |
Everyday. Here is the second of two successive original telephoto views that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 3 September 1965. Shown here is PRR engine #7924, an ES-12 built by GM-EMD in November of 1957 and rated at 1,200 horsepower. It is pulling the five-car "Roaring Spring Local" through Hollidaysburg on its way to the Altoona Yards along with N-5 caboose #477094. Visible in the near distance are the railroad bridge over the West Branch of the Juniata River and the PRR's Passenger Station. Visible in the far distance are some of the Allegheny Mountains which, seemingly, cradle the Borough of Hollidaysburg. Photo taken near the western end of the PRR's Freight Station on South Juniata Street. |
