Altoona Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Passenger Station in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1967. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6329 and #6061. #6329 is an AF-30 built by the American Locomotive Company in December of 1966 and rated at 3,000 horsepower. #6061 is an EF-30A built by GM-EMD in February of 1966 and rated at 3,000 horsepower. In this context, they're pulling a freight train up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Partially visible at the left are two structures belonging to the PRR's 12th Street Car Shops. |
