Amtrak 2860, named TYE RIVER, at about Roosevelt Road in Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in September 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 2860 was built by Pullman Standard in 1949 as Southern Railway 2020, named TYE RIVER, a 10-Roomette, 6-Bedroom (10-6) sleeper, acquired by Amtrak in 1979 when Southern exited the passenger business, became AMTK 2860, sold by Amtrak in December 1981. Number 2213 was built by Pullman Standard in 1947 as AT&SF 905, INDIAN FLUTE, as a 24 Duplex Bedroom sleeper, rebuilt in 1964 as an 11-Bedroom sleeper, retired by Amtrak in July 1981. |
